Beneficiaries
The money raised through Songfest is given directly to Chi Omega's national philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and our chapter's new local philanthropy, Still Creek Girls Ranch. In 2009, Songfest was able to donate over $70,000 because of the hard work and support of the student body of Texas A&M University. Songfest is truly a testament to the amazing impact the Aggie Family can have on the lives of those in need when united for a common purpose.
Still Creek Girls Ranch
Chi Omega is very excited to announce our new local philanthropy, Still Creek Girls Ranch! Still Creek Ranch is a non-profit organization that houses girls and boys ages 8-18 who were abandoned by their parents or guardians. It was started in 1988 by Danny and Margaret O'Quinn, with the goal of providing a stable, educational, and Christ-centered environment for children. Today, their dream has blossomed into a 275 acre ranch, complete with: a boys home, girls home, private boarding school, arena, and The Glory Inn. Still Creek operates strictly through donations, and receives no governmental funding.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation
The mission of the Make-a-Wish Foundation is to "grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope strength and joy." Each year the funds donated through Songfest help to make the wish of a child in the Brazos Valley into a reality. In recent years, Songfest has been greatly privileged to have our Make-A-Wish child attend the performance as an honored guest. Last year, the supporters of Songfest made it possible for Paige, our 2008 Make-A-Wish recipient, and her family to travel to the beautiful islands of Hawaii for a fun-filled family vacation.
